River Road Time Trial: Starting this week - option for in-person or on your own

Some people are eager to get back to riding together and others are enjoying the flexibility of the solo format.  Since we have two preferences, we’re going to try both. Starting on June 1st, you’ll be able to participate in the series solo at any time in a given week or in person on Tuesday evenings.

The Tuesday evening rides will go off at 5:30 this year (note the new time!).  Solo riders will have until Sunday at 6pm to submit their times.  We will rank and score all riders together.  There will certainly be advantages/disadvantages to riding certain days depending on weather, but we want to be as inclusive as possible.  You’re welcome to repeat the ride and submit your best time if you want to take advantage of better conditions!

Covid-19 specific notes for Tuesday rides:

  • If you're planning on riding with others/in-person for the Series, please be fully vaccinated.
  • Time trials and hillclimbs will both be done in time trial format – no drafting.
  • Please, no spitting or similar around other riders.
  • If you are sick or have any symptoms of Covid-19, please refrain from the Tuesday ride.
  • If you have travelled internationally or have been on a cruise ship in the last 10 days, please refrain from the Tuesday ride.
  • If you have been exposed to someone who tested positive for Covid-19, please refrain from the Tuesday ride.
  • We expect that everyone will follow the Covid-19 guidelines posted by the State of NH (https://www.covidguidance.nh.gov/) and the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html).

As always, questions/suggestions welcome at mightypemi@gmail...                    ________

Welcome to River Road!

Solo riders have from Tuesday through Sunday to complete the course and record a time.  Group riders will go off at 5:30PM on Tuesday night.  Since Strava segments can be unreliable, please time yourself by other means.  Send times to mightypemi@gmail.com--we'll post it here and place times accordingly.  Points are given in descending order (if there are 10 riders, 1st place gets 10 points, 2nd place gets 9 points, etc.). Points go to your season tally.

Course: This ~8.5 mile time trial is a fun, sometimes winding ride with a few small hills and straight-aways to the finish.  The course
goes from the north end of River Road in Plymouth to the south end in Bristol. The start will be from two metal stakes on either side of the road right by an old, empty white house.  The finish will be the start of the Peaked Hill Rd/River Rd intersection, which is just before Newfound Road.

Course Records: M: Kris Freeman, 19:09, 6/19/18  W: Ryanne Carmichael, 23:53, 6/19/18
T: John Jurczynski & Ann Benoit Jurczynski, 20:356/19/18
